Cellular manufacturing: a surfey of UK companies

Cellular manufacturing has bene widely implemented as a mainstream manufacturing strategy and as an approach to enhance the sustained benefits of lean production systems.Ingersoll Engineers,in a survey undertaken in 1990 (The Quiet Revolution) highlighted the increasing number of British amnufacturing companies who had implemented or intended to implement cells in the near future.A survey undertaken by COventry University showed,however,that the advantages gained by the adoption of cellular manufacturing had presented a large scope for improvement in operational areas of the business but had presented negligible improvements in the area of quality.
