A new theory of coherent detection of discrete radio signals in its most concise form is presented. Peculiarities of this new theory compared with the conventional theory are: 1) The incoming additive mixture of a signal with an interference is considered a deterministic function available for direct measurements. Probabilistic notions are drawn on only for estimation of detection results. 2) The incoming mixture is subjected both to linear and nonlinear transformations inside the receiver. 3) Signal bits are compared using not their energy but their valtime, i.e. not the mixture's instantaneous values squared, but the instantaneous values themselves.
