A digital signal processing payload concept for land mobile satellite communications

The paper summarises system tradeoff aspects of studies performed for ESA into the feasibility of an advanced processing payload concept, based in particular on the use of digital beamforming techniques. The baseline system described has resulted from extensive tradeoffs between a number of candidate payload and system configuration options.
