The use of computer-stored diagnosis codes to generate a list-of reportable diseases

To meet the state requirements that the attending physician report certain diseases, a program was developed to use the diagnosis codes which are already collected for insurance reports. The International Classification, 9th Edition, Clinical Modification, code numbers used to meet the Minnesota requirements, and the information submitted to the State Health Department monthly, is described.
