SMS and ASP: Hype or TST?

Twenty years of stable model semantics (SMS) and almost ten years of Answer Set Programming (ASP) are a good reason for a moment of reflection on these important concepts. This position paper gives a personal account of their history, aspects of ASP, and emphasizes the role of theory and practice in this area.
