The merged satellite altimeter sea level products play anrnimportant role in studying the impacts of the basin-scalernsea level variations on regional seas. To quantitativelyrnshow these impacts, the relationship between the searnlevel variations of the South China Sea (SCS) and thernPacific/Indian Oceans is investigated in this study, byrnusing AVISO merged Sea Level Anomalies (SLA)rnproducts. The Multiple Linear Regression model isrnmainly used to retrieve the SCS SLA anomaly timernseries from the mean SLA anomaly time series and thernzonal volume centroid anomalies of the Pacific/IndianrnOceans. With consideration of the zonal volumerncentroid anomalies of the upper-layer of thernPacific/Indian Oceans in the regression model, thernmaximum correlation coefficient between the originalrnmean SLA time series of SCS and the regression resultrnsignificantly reaches 0.88, which confirms a strongrnrelationship between the regional sea level variationsrnand the non-uniformity of the basin-scale sea levelrntrends.
