摘要

A research program was initiated to characterize the macro-inclusions present in foundry cast steels; to produce an atlas of the macro-inclusions that are found in foundry processed steels; and, to make this information available on the world wide web. Samples were examined using scanning electron microscopy, a micro-probe and an optical microscope in order to determine the morphology and composition of the inclusions. Representative results are presented in this report. A world wide web site was set up for the project that includes the macro-inclusion atlas, a section on inclusion stability diagrams, and other relevant information.
