Iron substituted aluminophosphate molecular sieves (Fe-AlPO_4-11, Fe-AlPO_4-5 and Fe-VPI-5) are catalytically active in oxidations of aromatic compounds such ashydroxylation of phenol, benzene, and naphthol, as well as epoxidation of styrene.Catalytic data show that the activities of Fe-AlPO_4-11, Fe-AlPO_4-5 are comparablewith that of TS-1 in the oxidation of aromatic compounds. Fe-VPI-5 shows highactivity in naphthol hydroxylation by H_2O_2, while TS-1 is completely inactive due tothe small pore size. Comparison of various catalysts proposed that Fe(III) in theframework is proposed as the major active sites in the catalytic reactions.
