摘要

Accuracy of a hybrid wide-spacing approximation to wave scattering by several varying topographies is investigated by comparing previous approximate solutions with the present numerical results without approximation. The connection between wide-spacing assumption and radiation condition is disclosed. The approximate method compares very favorably with the fully coupled solution except for the cases featuring higher-order resonances. This approximate method can be used as a viable tool to study topographic wave scattering because of the computational efficiency.
