Developers are striving to deliver products that require as little memory as possible yet perform well. One important but frequently overlooked aspect of performance is how displayed text looks. Unclear, jagged characters force customers to focus on a product's limitations, not its ease of use. What developers need is clear text that is easy to read on any device, at any size, and at any resolution, and that also renders quickly. Font Fusion is a font rasterizing engine that can render high-quality characters in any font format, at any resolution, and on any device. It is designed for Internet appliances, wireless devices, set-top boxes, embedded systems, and personal digital assistants. Font Fusion is an object-oriented font engine written in ANSI C. The font engine renders any industry-standard font format, as well as Font Fusion's stroke-based CJK (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean) fonts. The code is so compact that the Font Fusion engine and a Traditional Chinese stroke-based font containing over 13,500 characters occupy less than 0.5 MB.
