In this paper we investigate the interference effects between digital-modulated advanced television (ATV) signals and FM-TV signals in 12 GHz satellite broadcasting channels via computer simulatio. Quaternary phase-shift keying (QPSK) and offset quaternary phase-shift keying (OQPSK) are considered as digital modulation schemes for broadcasting ATV signals via satellite. The performances of the two schemes are compared when the modulated signals are disturbed by the interference of other digital-modulated signals or by conventional FM-TV signals. In addition, the interference effects of digital-modulated signals on FM-TV signals are also considered.
