Production Technology of Structural Plywood from Eucalyptus/Poplar Wood

Introduction Structural plywood is used waterproof adhesive bonding and used to bearing component. Most of the structural plywood products are used in sub-floor, roof and the wall board of wood frame construction, which can be used to made glue beam. Ordinary plywood used urea-formaldehyde resin adhesive can achieve performance requirements, but the structural plywood must use water-resistant glue, such as phenol-formaldehyde adhesive (PF) or emulsion polymer isocyanate adhesive (EPI). With the rapid expansion of plantation area, eucalyptus and poplar become two of the species which are used extensively. These timbers have common weaknesses, such as, soft, low density and poor property. In total China's forest resources, young forest has accounted for 67.85 percent, plantation area is 53.26 million hectares, about global 1/3, ranking first in the world, including poplar forest area of 3.0935 million hectares, volume reached 193.31 million m3. Five to six years' poplar can grow up to 30centimetres in diameter, made it into veneer which is a good material for plywood.
