Introduction With the implementation of law of indoor air quality (IAQ) control as countermeasures for sick house syndrome since 2004 in Korea, the general publics are interested in eco-friendly building materials that insure good indoor air quality. Therefore, public preference is moved toward less harmful building materials. To form board type building materials, charcoal powder commonly applied with organic or inorganic binders under high pressure and temperature condition. However, during the forming process it not only losses some of its characteristics but also heavily densified. Thus, we can not maximizes its intrinsic characteristics any more.
