@@Interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) have been the subject of extensive study since 1960. They have been examined by investigators looking into the synthesis, morphology, properties, and applications of these materials1-4. Hydrogel EPN systems have gained significant attention in the last two decades due to their use in biomedical applications. One of the particular interests is enhancement of mechanical properties of IPN systems. Double network (DN) hydrogels are new class of interpenetrated polymer network that exhibits remarkable strength and toughness5-7.
