The South of Songliao Basin is a depression superimposed on fault sags. The several fault sags that formed in the J_3-K_1 stage unified into one depression in the late stage. Several isolate petroleum systems with its source rocks coming from the fault sag strata are formed. The source rocks are good gas-bearing sources, so the gas resource of the basin is rich. In the South of Songliao Basin, many structure traps and complex fault systems were formed, undergoing many structure motions. Theses structure motions controlled the distributing formation of source rock and place in J_3-K, fault sag. Oil and gas pools may be divided into 2 kinds: primary and secondary Oil and gas pool. The former is distributed in the formations of fault sags and the bottom of the formation of depression(Quan-1 Member of Quantou Formation K2q1). The source rocks horizontally provided gas in a long period. The main conditions of accumulating of oil and gas pools were the situation of traps and the distance away from the source rocks. The retention condition of oil and gas pools depended on the degree of reconstruction in the late tectogenesis. The diffusion had little affection on the gas pools and almost had no destroying function. And the gas layers had the character of regional distribution. The later, formed in the period of the tectogenesis the end-Nenjiang and end-Mingshui formation sedimentation, dispersed in the Quantou formation of the depression. The main conditions of accumulating oil and gas pools were as follows: the situation of traps, the situation of the deep gas source, and the faults connected with the upper traps and the lower gas source. The secondary oil and gas pools were formed under the background of destruction in the late tectogenesis. The different destruction of late faults to the pools led to the complex retention conditions. The limited mature source rocks in the Qinsankou and the Nengjiang formations disperse in Qianan depression and Changling depression in the South of Songliao Basin, the rich resource of biogas of which ought to be the future prospecting target.
