In order to clarify the sea salt dynamics in a peat covered catchment, the chemical properties of peat pore water, stream water outflows from mire, and annual salt loadings into peat soil as atmospheric deposition (bulk deposition and throughfall) were measured at a coastal ombrogenous mire with Picea glehnii forest in the Ochiishi, north-eastern, Japan. The salt concentrations of the peat pore water was significantly higher in the P. glehnii forests as compared to Sphagnum community. The relationship between the P. glehnii forests and the Sphagnum community in annual salts loadings corresponded to the chemical properties of peat pore water. The EC of stream water from Cape Ochiishi Mire has a sharp peak in early March showed the enrichment of chemicals due to the accumulation of salts in snow cover. This led to the high salt concentration in stream water just after the rain event during the soil frozen season.
