A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF INTERNATIONAL TOURISM POLICY BETWEEN CHINA AND KOREA

Today, tourism has developed rapidly and become one of the largest industries in the world. China has made great progress in the tourism industry since reform and opening up in 1978 and has become the world's fourth largest tourism destination. In spite of rapid growth, China has still a long way to go, especially in making international tourism policies. China and Korea have similar culture background and geographically are very close to each other. Given that China is viewed as a base country, this paper is focused on qualitative comparison of international tourism policies between China and Korea. Country-oriented historical data has been examined. While there are similarities of international tourism policies in terms of tourism policy developing, policy objectives, and others, many differences exit. It concludes with some suggestions.
