The shuffle exchange network has been extensively investigated in the last two decades as an architecture to interconnect processing elements (and memory modules) together in multiprocessor systems where only the networks with 2~n number of inputs/outputs were considered. K.Padmanabhan proposed an even sized binary shuffle exchange network to interconnect a composite number (i.e. ≠ 2~n ) of nodes. Several structural and dynamic properties of the network are established, contrasting the behaviour of the power-of-two and composite sized systems. In this paper an efficient method of detection of fault in shuffle exchange network having composite number of nodes is presented where both switching element fault as well as link fault are considered.
