Damage examination for a conservation concept at the Jewish cemetery, Hamburg Altona, Germany

摘要

The natural stones of the Jewish cemetery in Hamburg Altona are strongly affected by environmental influences and other deterioration factors. Especially the marble and limestone show severl damage. The precious inscriptions on the tombs have almost vanished. The damage examination focused on about 60 monuments. The multiple damage symptoms were intensely investigated. The diagnostic investigations were carried out with regard to conservation.
