摘要

Environmental assessment of areas subject to strong human pressure is a growing problem worldwide. This is true also for Poland The Upper Silesian conurbation, which is dominated by heavy industry: steel mills, mining, chemical industry, as well as power plants and thermal power plants. The assessment analyses catchment Klodnica in which anthropogenic impacts are very strong and long lasting. In order to assess the current state of the environment, a cartogram was established in which both factors, positively and negatively affecting the environment of the analysed area are reflected. To create a results-cartogram, SWOT analysis was used.
