The 7th International Symposium From Data to Models and Back (DataMod 2018) was held in Toulouse, France, during 25-26 June 2018. The symposium aims at bringing together practitioners and researchers from academia, industry, government and nongovernment organizations to present research results and exchange experiences, ideas, and solutions for modeling and analyzing complex systems and using knowledge management strategies, technology, and systems in various domain areas such as ecology, biology, medicine, climate, governance, education, and social software engineering. After a careful review process, the Program Committee accepted eight regular papers for presentation at the symposium and inclusion in the post-proceedings, and four short presentation reports. The program of DataMod 2018 was also enriched by the keynote speeches of Paolo Masci titled 'Data-driven analysis of user interface software in medical devices', Gwen Salaiin titled 'Safe Composition of Software Services', and Giulio Caravagna titled 'Computational oncology: from biomedical data to models and back'.
