Pulverizer Tramp Iron Problems Affect Coal Switching at Union Electric's Labadie Plant

Union Electric's Labadie Plant is meeting goals to reduce emissions and minimize the cost impact on consumers. Powder River Basin coal is a key element in this strategy. With PRB coal, however, tramp iron problems have a more pronounced impact on the plant, adversely affecting operating cost and unit availability. The magnetic separators are new tools for the plant to better defend itself from tramp iron contamination.
