This paper focuses on assessment of the electric potential (EP) due to lightning strike into the overhead ground wire (OHGW) in power distribution line. Power distribution line and substation of provincial electricity authority (PEA) model used in the current distribution electromagnetic interference grounding and soil structure (CDEGS) program has five models. For simulation of lightning current, the lightning impulse waveforms according to IEC 62305-1. Waveforms have a time interval of 0.25/100 μs and 10/350 μs generated in the CDEGS program for lightning current testing. Lightning current with a peak value of 34.40 kA is the value of lightning current in Thailand. The study results confirmed that connect the OHGW (case 4) is an effective way to help decrease the EP.
