This paper presents the comparison of experimental, simulated path loss and received power for the indoor wireless channel. The path loss optimisation experiment was carried out at a frequency of 433 MHz. We also examine the principle of free space path loss of a signal, the effect of reflection, refraction, and diffraction of an indoor wireless channel environment and its effects on path loss. A raytracing program implemented in Matlab is interfaced with Wireless Insite GUI software to perform path loss prediction on the modelled indoor wireless channel environment. In comparing the measured and predicted results of the indoor wireless channel environment, it was observed that the antenna positioning together with building materials used are key to modelling a pragmatic channel because of their impact in path loss optimization.
