Exploring health profiles from physical and cognitive serious game analytics

Recent research discourse has emphasized the role of ecological validity for cognitive health measurements/assessments. To this extent, serious games have been sought not only as a contemporary added value intervention for cognitive and physical health, but also considered of great potential in contributing on early detection of health deterioration when in-game metrics/analytics are evaluated. Thus, recent research has started investigating the use of built-in gameplay measures as assessment tools and performance indicators. This study presents a methodology for exploiting in-game metrics information towards a representative user profile, taking as ground truth clinical cognitive and physical assessment tests. The results of this preliminary analysis look very promising and can support further investigation towards the value of in-game metrics/analytics and their overall monitoring capacity.
