The study draws attention to the use of Casuarina Glauca, a local Egyptian wood, in inaccessible roof truss elements and investigates the possibility of using it to replace traditional, less environmentally friendly alternatives. It begins with finding the most practical and functional shape, and then includes the detailed design that satisfies both strength and serviceability design criteria. Moreover, different types of connections were studied, designed, and tested in order to reach a suitable connection that achieves a specified strength and does not increase the overall weight of the structure. Finite Element analysis (FEA) aided the verification of the experimental work, and a full-scale prototype truss was fabricated.
