摘要

Mosses are non-vascular plants and can be profitable for a diversity of vertical building greenery systems in metropolitan areas as well as the vascular plants which are nowadays mostly used for living walls. The diversity of building vegetation is profitable for the building indoor micro-climate, the urban environment is pleasing to the public and provides urban habitats which help with the connection between urban environment and pure nature. The discussion is mainly addressed to moss biology, diversity, mosses demands and limitations with comparison to vascular plants. The research is looking into moss's properties and advantages suitable for the further design of natural living walls or other urban features with moss and with minimized maintenance. We aim to highlight the characteristics and suitability of mosses for construction purposes, not to interfere profoundly into its biological features.
