Implication of constructing the New Mhloti river deck monolithically with the existing deck

摘要

The paper investigates joining the existing prestressed Mhloti river bridge deck to a new deck monolithically. The new deck will shorten at a higher rate when compared to the existing deck. This is due to differential creep and shrinkage between the new and old decks which will cause restrained differential movement between the two decks and additional stresses.
