The Grating Light Valve™ (GLV™) technology is a micro-electro-mechanical phase grating capable of displaying a unique high-speed modulation of light, combined with grey-scale attenuation. Its electro-mechanical response can be tuned through varied operational and design modes to deliver the required calibrated performances in terms of efficiency, contrast, cost and switching speed. It can withstand very high optical power densities, thus making it suitable for a plethora of applications. This paper deals with one such application involving the usage of GLVs to help obtain high resolution images of body scans taken in medical scenarios. This is achieved by using a GLV based optical write engine, and subsequently allowing the scanned images to be transposed on to another GLV, thereby allowing us to extrapolate the resultant color contrast enhanced images, and thus helping increase the accuracies in medical diagnoses.
