The purpose of this work is to compare the echo reduction performance of a Classical Adaptive Noise canceller, which included just one high order transversal filter, with Adaptive Noise Cancellers that use Wavelet Packet filter banks and low order transversal filters. The schemes were tested using real voice signals, a hybrid impulse response modeled after real ones and diverse echo path lengths. The results indicate that the Wavelet Packet schemes offer a good tradeoff between performance and computational cost.
