The combined pressure of shorter time-to-market and growing complexity of signal processing applications provide more than adequate motivation for developers to desire advanced application development tools.Such tools must provide increased productivity and promote application portability - without sacrificingany appreciable performance.One such tool is 'CapCASE~TM/Talaris' (internal name; referred to as CC/T hereafter) a software development environment for implementing deployable heterogeneous multicomputers.Both the architectureand use of this evolutionary toolsuite will be discussed.Software productivity and performance issues are consiered,as is portability.A case study will show what a deveoper needs to learn to use this tool and its design methodology.
