With the development of city rail transit in china, more and more subways in themegalopolis areas will be built by deep embedment technology, especially for the subway through oldtown with lots of buildings below. So fire safety in these subways should be inspected much more andstudied further. In this paper, platform fire smoke spread in deep buried island metro station (DBMS)is investigated by CFD simulation. The smoke spread beneath the platform and tunnel ceiling andthrough floors are analyzed, focusing on fire properties such as the temperature, smoke concentration,visibility in the tunnel, platform, hall, equipment floors and stair well. The efficient air ventilation andits reliability on platform fire smoke control in DBMS during fires are then discussed. Finally thesimulations are compared with the experiments, and the conclusions may benefit to ventilation designand safety management for platform fire smoke control in DBMS.
