An Online De-icing Method Based on Single-Phase Grounding Fault Current for Distribution Lines

Distribution lines can continue to work for a period of time when a single-phase grounding fault occurs in non-effective grounding systems, because the current circulating through the fault point is small. Based on this working characteristic, the single-phase grounding fault current is used to de-icing in this paper. An arc suppression coil inductance set value is calculated by using single-phase ground fault current and load current. Adjusting the arc suppression coil inductance is bigger than or equal to set value. And a single-phase ground fault is set artificially at the end of distribution line, so that the generated fault current is bigger than the critical de-icing current to realize online de-icing without line outage. The novel de-icing method is no need to line outage or special de-icing devices installation and verified high de-icing efficiency, practicability and easily realization by the case analysis.
