Experimental investigation of the dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) was performed in air atatmospheric pressure. Homogeneous discharge was capable of operating when the dielectricbarriers were polyethylene terephthalate (PET) films with wire meshes. The discharge device waspowered by a high voltage AC source with a frequency of 50 Hz. Two parallel-plane electrodeswere designed as the shape of Rogowski electrodes to achieve the field uniformity. The gas gap waskept at 2 mm. The discharge pattern was taken with an intensified CCD camera. The wave forms ofthe applied voltage and discharge current were recorded with a digital oscilloscope. The electricaland optical characteristics of the homogeneous discharge and the condition in getting a stablehomogeneous discharge were discussed.
