We compared the temperatures of H and D atoms in a principal quantum number of n=2 inhigh-density hydrogen plasmas excited by helicon-wave discharges. The temperatures of H(n=2)and D(n=2) were evaluated from the Doppler broadening of the Balmer-α lines, which weremeasured by diode laser absorption spectroscopy. It was found that the temperatures of H(n=2) andD(n=2) in H2/D2 mixture plasmas were not the same. The temperature of D(n=2) was higher thanthat of H(n=2), and the temperature ratio was dependent on the gas mixture ratio. The temporaldecays of the H(n=2) and D(n=2) temperatures were examined in the afterglows of H2 and D2plasmas. As a result, the decay curves of the H(n=2) and D(n=2) temperatures were the same,suggesting that there are no differences in the heat confinement time of H and D atoms.
