In the paper a potential possibility of using alead–bismuth eutectic (LBE) with the modifiedisotopic composition as the accelerator-drivensystem PDS-XADS target material is considered.Neutron and proton spectra of the target consistedof 80% lead isotope Pb-208 and 20% bismuth aregiven. In such a target a harder neutron spectrum isreached as compared with the neutron spectrum ofthe target consisted of the conventional LBE. Dueto depleting the target with neutrons of 10–100keV energy for which Bi-209 has large cross-sectionsof radiation neutron capture and due toreducing its content in the LBE from 55% to 20%the induced activities of Po-210 and Bi-207 arereduced.
