In this article, a structure of single-phase 19-level MLI is suggested. The working principles, control strategy, and switching states have been studied in details. Several types of comparisons have been done between the suggested topology of MLI and traditional topology of CHB-MLI regarding number of diodes, IGBT switches, isolated D.C. power supplies, and total components that have been shown in Table 2. It has been noticed that this suggested topology needs lesser number of overall components. The proposed topology of 19-level inverter has been simulated in MATLAB and validated by using the real-time simulator (OP-5600) as depicted in Fig. 5.
