摘要

This paper introduces the two systems as the presentstate of application of communication within substation.One is the coordinated-type protection, control, andoperation support system employing the optical LANdeveloped based on the ISO/IEC 8802-4 (token passingbus) LAN with applying optical star couplers. Anotheris the remote control and monitoring system forprotection equipment employing the Ethernet LAN withTCP/IP.Furthermore, this paper introduces new substationautomation systems, which are presently considered byJapanese electric power companies for a further costdecrement, as examples showing the direction ofsubstations in future. The data transmission system hasbeen scrutinized from the aspects of general-purposeapplicability, economical efficiency, and functionalperformance while considering the requirements forprotection and control system, such as datatransmission speed and synchronized sampling.
