This paper studies the specific features of high power electric arc furnace operation: The case of EAF-180 Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, PJSC. The basic methods for regulating of secondary voltage of the furnace transformer are given in this paper. The improved power circuit of the thyristor brushless regulation of the secondary voltage of the furnace transformer providing a stability increase of the electric regime of the furnace was proposed by the authors on the basis of the analysis. Also the issues of power selection of the elements of a Static VAR Compensator are noted.
