Boundary Fitting in the Construction of 3D Leaf Model

This paper presents a new approach for the construction of a three-dimensional leaf model to achieve data compensation of a digitalized leaf image captured from the real plant by boundary fitting. This research aims to show the entire process including the extraction of the boundary data from an image of delta arrowhead leaves, the implementation of boundary treatment for leaf data by fitting, and the construction of the 3D leaf model. The results show that the present study is extracting the finite data points from the leaf image and implementing data fitting for the compensation of the constrained boundary data. This serves to reproduce the visualization of the leaf and eventually construct a 3D leaf model which can be used to study the development of plant organs. At present, there has been little study and research concerning the construction of the organ model of a virtual plant via the boundary data extracted from an image.
