Austria's hydropower and its importance to the environment

摘要

Austria's electricity generation is dominated by hydropower. Its importance as a renewable and non-polluting source of energy is emphasized. With the help of various examples of recently built plants or plants still under construction it is shown that a symbiosis between technology and nature is possible. The multiple functions of Austrian hydroelectric power stations are illustrated and at the same time the importance of ecological accompanying measures is pointed out without which power station projects can no longer be imagined.
