The challenge of hydro-thermal scheduling in a deregulated power market regime

The paper addresses the topic of short-term matching of supply and demand in a deregulated power system comprising hydro-thermal generation as well as power transmission. An ideal free market setting is defined, and within this the concept and content of a market clearing process is outlined, that mya internalize proper consideration of overall resouce utilisation as well as security constraints in the process of market clearing and pricing.
