Size effects on deformation behaviors of metallic single crystals

As a kind of low-symmetry crystals,hexagonal close packed (hcp) metalsundergo plastic deformation through either dislocation slipping or twinning,depending on a competition between the critical resolved stresses required to activatethe two deformation modes.
