High temperature precipitation strengthening of an Al-containing austenitic stainless steel

A unique feature of novel alumina-forming austenitic stainless steel developed by Yamamotoet al at Oak Ridge National Laboratory is the addition of Al to form alumina protective scale whilemaintaining austenitic structure.This makes it attractive for high temperature structural applicationincluding in ultra-supercritical (USC) steam turbine.
