Year 2000 planning considerations-We need a bigger boat

The Year 2000 'Century Date Change' problem has been described as the biggest ever IT (Information Technology) project. Estimates of the size of the problem vary a great deal, but few commentators describe it as small. Part of the problem for IT is to estimate the amount of kit that will be required to service the compliance program, and for most f us this will be uncharted territory. The factors affecting this environment will vary from business to business and from platform to platform. This paper will discuss efforts to size an MVS environment, and hopefully some part of the discussion will be of use to planners in a variety of environments.
