ICI Katalco has developed a new process usign fixed bed absorbents for the removal of elemental and organic mercury from gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons. The process is in commercial service treating hydrocarbon gases, both onshore and offshore, under normal pipeline transmission conditios of 6000 to 8000 kPa [60 - 80 bar] and at ambient temperature. Other units treat dense phase natural gas and natural gas liquids.
