Calculation Method for Cracking Moment of Concrete Beams Reinforced with GFRP Bars

To study the crack resistance of concrete beams reinforced with GFRP bars, the experiments on flexural property of 14 concrete beams reinforced with GFRP bars were carried out and cracking loads of this kind of beams were obtained. Referring to calculation method for cracking moment of RC beams, the calculation formula of cracking moment of concrete beam reinforced with GFRP bars was deduced. The applicability of the formula was examined by tests of simply-supported concrete beams reinforced with GFRP bars. The calculation data of cracking loads obtained by the formula and the test data of cracking loads were contrasted, the results show that they are in good agreement. Accordingly, the calculation method for cracking moment of concrete beams reinforced with GFRP bars is achieved.
