摘要

In this paper, Electromagnetic Band-gap Structure (EBGS) is included in the substrate of a conventional microstrip patch antenna and comparison is made with the same antenna without EBGS on its substrate. Finally how the number and the position of the EBGS rows on antenna substrate affect the performance of the antenna is analyzed. It is proposed that using mushroom like EBGS gain, bandwidth, radiation efficiency of reference antenna increase. EBGS also reduce return loss, Voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), surface wave of reference antenna. How two effect of EBGS named cavity effect and parasitic loading effect play vital role on the performance of antenna is also discussed.
