The State of Online SR Reporting at New Zealand Universities

This study examines the current status of online social responsibility (SR) reporting by New Zealand universities. In this study, we selected all eight publicly funded universities as sample. Content analysis of university websites was the research method. In the course of research, we employed an assessment framework for online SR reporting, developed by Sánchez et al. [1], as an instrument for content analysis. The results reveal that New Zealand universities perform well for online SR reporting in general, from both the content and the context. It is argued that New Zealand universities should have a strong commitment in communicating their SR initiatives with various stakeholders via internet. As an exploratory study in the New Zealand higher education context, this research makes some contributions to the extant literature in the area.
