Comparing the Performance of IVMS-supported VM Workshops with Traditional VM Workshops

Interactive Value Management System (IVMS) is a webbased prototype Group decision support systems (GDSS) developed by the authors to support Value Management (VM) workshops. This paper introduces a comparative experimental study which investigates the extent to which the use of IVMS can improve the performance of VM workshops. The study compares and contrasts the performance of a traditional VM workshop with an IVMS-supported VM workshop in three aspects: process measures, outcome measures, and subjective satisfaction. The results of the experiment are analyzed and discussed. Findings from this research indicate that IVMS is supportive in overcoming the problems and difficulties in VM workshops.
